It's Time to Rethink the Barrel

The NuBarrel™ may not look like a barrel,

but it does everything a barrel will do and more...

1

Produce Higher Quality  Wines

2

See a Much Greater Profit Yield

3

More Wine in Less Floor Space

4

Total Control of Aging the Wine

5

Ideal for Small Lot Fermentation

6

Seismically-Engineered for Safety

7

The Only Guarantee Against Leaks

BETTER QUALITY

1

With an oak barrel you get oak flavoring. With the 240 gallon NuBarrel™ tank you can get the same amount of oak interaction. The comparison stops there.  With the concrete “barrel” you control the oak flavor(s), the “oaking period” the amount of oak exposure or your aging can be totally oak free.

It’s time to re-think the barrel.

INQUIRIES

FAR MORE PROFIT

2

Oak lasts a few years. Concrete lasts a few decades.

Barrel replacement is one of the major expenses in wine making. The average oak barrel lasts between 4 – 5 years. A concrete NuBarrel™ will last 4 – 5 decades. Do the math. During the first six years the capital cost is about the same. The next 36 years are FREE. A moderate size winery could save $750,000 not including the additional handling costs.

It’s time to re-think the barrel.

INQUIRIES

FAR LESS SPACE

3

The NuBarrel™ containing 4 barrels takes the same floor space as 1½ oak barrels. In most wineries storage space is at a premium. The NuBarrel™ has been earthquake tested at the University of California – Berkeley Earthquake Lab, so stacking 2 NuBarrels™ with 480 gallons is safe and smart.

It’s time to re-think the barrel.

TOTAL CONTROL OF AGING

4

Micro oxygenation control – overfill alarms – remote temperature capacity monitoring to computer or cell phone – tasting ports – pump over mixing are all functions and features available on the NuBarrel™ that help both the winemaker and the cellar master understand – and control – what is happening at all times during the critical aging period. None of these controls are routinely available on oak barrels. In the past, winemakers have had to assume what is happening in the oak barrels. Now they can keep a constant control over the aging process.

SMALL LOT FERMENTATION

5

At times when you get more juice than tanks, the NuBarrel can be used as a combination fermentation and storing tank. It is also the ideal size for sampling small lot production. Like our fermentation tanks, these tanks can be cycled between white and red varietals.

It’s time to re-think the barrel.

SEISMIC ENGINEERING

6

Concrete NuBarrels™ stack in pairs, bolt together, and can bolt to a concrete floor. They have been tested for stability at the PEER Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research building in Berkeley, CA. We tested  single and  stacked tanks, in shakes exceeding the El Centro, Loma Prieta and Napa quakes. The tanks passed all tests both free-standing and bolted down.

It’s time to re-think the barrel.

10-Year Guarantee

7

There's concrete, and then there's concrete, and there's only one manufacturer of concrete wine tanks who backs their product with a 10-year warranty against structural cracking and leaking. US-Made, concrete wine tanks from Sonoma Cast Stone are simply that good..

It’s time to re-think the barrel.
