It worked for the estruscans, the greeks, the persians, and the romans, and now it can work for you. Many winemakers have discovered the advantages of making quality wine in concrete. Now both reds and whites can also be aged in concrete. The oxidation continues, the natural insulation, and the gentle addition of subtle minerals continues, until time to bottle. This unique storage tank is designed to collect the fines as the wine ages.
The egg shape harkens back to the ancient vessels used to ferment wine originally. With no corners, the wine is free to circulate naturally during fermentation, and you can actually watch the wine move during this process of constant stirring. The shape also forces more of the cap to remain submerged, gleaning the utmost in fruit flavor and color for your wine and reducing your need for "punch down".
Two sizes and styles of Concrete Conical tanks are available, We take pride in being able to custom-modify these basic shapes to fit your winery. Conical tanks are available as open-top or closed with large manways. They can be placed on a raised foundation, powder coated steel adjustable ring support or matching concrete legs.
Maximize your storage space and your yield with these tall beauties! Use the rectangular tank with a closed or open top and on the floor or on our optional, steel base (shown). Available options and accessories, give this concrete wine tank the functionality that belies its simple shape. Try our optional, glycol temperature control system. It's uniquely embedded into the concrete to have no contact the wine.
The square tank is a more efficient use of limited winery floor space than the egg or conical tanks. Stainless fittings may be moved to mirror the adjacent tank. Square tanks can include heating and cooling control as does all of our concrete tanks. Available with and without tops.
This is currently the largest concrete tank we make. This tank has a built in pumpover and large wide opening doors for fruit entry. As with all of our tanks, the truncated is available with glycol heating and cooling.
Concrete: the proof is in the glass.
Our smallest tank is an open-top fermentor. This shape and size is perfect for the small winery or a larger one that is working with small batches. The size and design make the Teacup easy to punch down and monitor. The tank has two lifting rings that allow the tank to be raised high enough for the third point to lift the tank into a pouring position. Easy to dump and spray clean without tank entry.
